Dirt Removal Comparison – Super 8 transfers

Posted by Eric Hansen - February 18, 2009 - Super 8 Transfers

This reel was extremely over-exposed. Bringing the blacks back from gray really emphasized the dirt on the film. So I applied Red Giant’s Film Fix plug-in suite in After Effects. This is on the default settings for the Dirt Removal plug-in. Dirt Removal is very important for black and white and negative film, but less so on color reversal.

You might need to press Play a few times since its only a few seconds long. Press the full screen button to really see the difference.
