I just noticed that I haven’t posted to the blog in over a month. I’ve been adding to the Current Recommendations page though, so check that out. Here’s a quick rundown of what I’ve been up to lately:
Ethernet SAN at Brain Farm – All 25TB are in. We’ve only been using it for a few days but already thinking about expanding. That’s the great thing about these SAS expansion RAIDs, you can just keep adding more. I haven’t posted any pics yet because a lot of the building is still under construction. Maybe tomorrow…
Lightspeed Register system at the Mangy Moose Market and Cellars – last spring I replaced some old PC registers with iMacs and Xsilva’s Lightspeed. There’s been a bit of a learning curve, like all new POS systems, but overall it has been a great addition. The biggest gain has been that credit cards get approved in seconds instead of up to 1 minute. That should make the apres ski line move quicker! This week I’m adding a laptop to the mix, which should be great for those days when they need another register, or for doing inventory.
Super 8 Transfers – Go West Happy Cow and some vintage rolls. In September I was the field audio mixer for a road trip movie called Go West Happy Cow. In addition to my audio duties, I also toted along my Super 8 and Holga cameras. My Super 8 camera was actually a new addition – a mint condition Canon 1014XLS. I just ran the footage through the HD telecine a few weeks ago and it turned out great. The 1014 really is the best. I also transfered some vintage-1950s Kodachrome. Wow. That stock really was the best. I can’t wait to get my hands on my family’s footage. But I need to get that wetgate added first…
Blu-Ray – I’m always authoring Blu-Ray discs here and there.
Right Now – color correcting the Go West Happy Cow footage and editing a Super 8 wedding film. Film is still the best!
Oh yeah, I also just got a new drum set after a 12 year hiatus from playing. That might be the real reason why I haven’t made the time to post. I just want to bang on the drum all day…
