Panasonic Taking Orders for View-Master-ized P2 Camcorder

I wonder if it comes with the Yellowstone Nature or the Muppets disk

Look at this thing!

It’s a HPX171 with goggles.

Panasonic has started taking reservations for this $21,000 HD 3D camcorder that’s supposed to ship this fall. They’ve also announced a full line of 3D equipment including monitors and switchers:

I’ve really been surprised by the explosion of 3D this year. I don’t know if it’s because of Avatar or not, but the CES show was loaded with new 3D-capable flat screens, and 3D has been added to the Blu-Ray spec. I’m looking forward to checking out more 3D stuff at NAB.

The AG-3DA1 will democratize 3D production by giving professional videographers a more affordable and simple solution for capturing immersive content as well as to provide a training tool for educators,” said John Baisley, President, Panasonic Broadcast. “As the product is positioned in a more mainstream budget category, Panasonic camcorder owners will help to accelerate the amount of 3D content being created for distribution on new Blu-ray discs and recently announced 3D channels like those of Direct TV.

Panasonic’s Press Release

Panasonic also announced a USB P2 card reader. It will start shipping in April for $350 list.
