The TGR 3D Experiment at Steven’s Pass

Teton Gravity Research has just completed their first 3D location shoot for their upcoming Fall 2010 Ski and Snowboard release, Light the Wick. Shooting park features with athletes Sammy Carlson, John Spriggs, and Byron Wells, TGR utilized a Tyler Mount RED One side-by-side rig from 21st Century 3D. Shortly after I got back from NAB, Todd Jones called me for a full download on all the 3D tech because they were thinking about filming their last shoot of the season in 3D, starting on May 7th. I gave him a real quick rundown and a list of people to call. I’m psyched to see they were able to pull everything together so quickly.

RE:Vision Effects has started shipping new After Effects CS5 versions of their plug-ins. RE:Vision is best known for their Twixtor time re-mapping software, which I’ve demoed here on the blog before.

  • 64-bit versions compatible with Adobe® After Effects® and Adobe® Premiere Pro®.
  • Significant speed enhancements have been added for all the plugins, so non-CS5 users benefit from upgrading as well. Note that due to optimizations and more memory availability in After Effects CS5, users will see an even greater speedup using the new versions within CS5 as compared to using the old versions in CS4.

indiSYSTEM – Affordable accessories for HDSLR shooting

The ULTRAcompact, only $299

Being an independent filmmaker provides many challenges on a day to day and project to project basis from low budgets to minimal access to equipment, talent and resources. With this in mind, Studio 4 Productions started up with the needs of the indi filmmaker at the heart of its offering, with the aim of building high-quality yet affordable filmmaking tools for indies.

I have yet to try the products from indiSYSTEM, but like every other HDSLR shooter out there, I’m looking to pimp out my shooting rig, but I don’t want to spend more than the camera originally cost. I’m hoping to get my hands on some of their products soon to test them out.
