The production world is changing quickly and budgets are shrinking. New cameras, codecs, edit systems, plug-ins, sharing, archiving; it’s hard to know where to start. And of course everyone is asking you to do more with less. You know what you need to do, but you’re not exactly sure how to get there.
Eric and EricHansen.tv are here to help.
Obsessed with Faster, Simpler, Better.
Eric has worked with cameras ranging from GoPro POV to Canon 7D to Phantom Flex and every film format, on productions ranging from small web edits to commercials to major motion pictures. Each one of these cameras and their required workflow puts different strains on your system and your editors. Designing something that works is a challenge. Eric has worked with every major editing platform and works with his vendors to design shared storage systems that merge your cameras, your edit systems and your storage into one simple, cohesive workflow.
Why is Eric different?
You can call the company that makes your editing software of choice, and they’ll put you on with a sales guy. But he’s not an editor. You can go to a forum about RAIDs and get advice about buying certain hard drives that are fast, but they don’t know what you need for editing Phantom footage. You can talk to an IT guy about building a network, but he doesn’t know the needs of real-time editing, the needs of a Pro Tools session or how to build a render farm for After Effects, all on the same high speed network. Eric has done all these things and works in all parts of the production workflow – shooting, transcoding/DIT, editing, color correction, audio mixing, CGI, output, archiving. You can’t build a complete end to end workflow with a sales guy from one company. You need someone who knows how all the parts work together, and isn’t tied to one specific company or product.
