2 Stages
- Analysis pass – CPU, uses only 1 core, frustratingly slow
- Render pass – GPU accel
Overall, slower than FCP7, FCPX and ProDAD, but results are very good (looks like Magic Bullet Steady is no longer available). Can handle full res RED files, but takes even longer. 1min clip will take hours to analyze. Looks like a few clips can be analyzed at once, but may run into memory and disc cache issues. Adobe recommends less than 7000 frames per clip. Blake has had success with 1080p 30k frame clips though (I wonder how long that took).
Tested 2 comps in one AE project. Both will analyze but it looks like they split the single core process.
If you stop an Analyze and start again, it starts over. You can’t save an Analyze in progress.
Ideas:
Try running multiple instances of AE:
- AEae – http://www.andrewandoru.com/labs/aeae/
- or add “-m” to terminal command when launching
Multiple instances don’t work. All use one instance of Adobe Analysis Server. Raising RAM for “other” apps doesn’t work either.
