The other day JK and Troy, the guys behind the documentary “Swift, Silent, Deep” called me in to do a quick audio pass on the flick because they got accepted into X-Dance, and needed to make a screener DVD ASAP. I had heard things around the valley about this doc for the past few years. My first reaction was, is there enough footage to make this into a feature? It’s about the Jackson Hole Air Force, a loosely banded group of extreme skiers and rebels that became famous in the 80s and 90s for exploring and opening up the backcountry of Jackson Hole, and then pioneering the Chugach Range of Alaska. Because this group was so cloak and dagger, I didn’t think enough footage existed. But on Monday I sat down to a 80 minute cut that is chuck full of great vintage shots, and entertaining interviews with animated members of the Air Force. It turned out really well and I wish JK and Troy luck down at X-Dance and I can’t wait for a premiere here in Jackson!
